Berlin, Berlin Film Festival / No Comments

Berlin, the German capital , a city on par with the likes of New York , London and Paris most certainly knows how to look backward and forward at once, how to remember and how to renew. Shaking off its heavy past, today’s Berlin is fast-changing, lively and fun.

Also known as the ” Berlinale” , the Berlin Film Festival has long been one of Europe’s most important film festivals alongside the Cannes Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival. The festival has hosted world renowned filmmakers such as Ingmar Bergman , Roman Polaski and many others.

2010 sees the festival celebrating it’s 60th Birthday accompanied by a special programme of world-class and enthralling shows.

So, where does it all happen?

Potsdamer Platz is where the Berlinale’s main office is and a majority of the cinemas are located here.

How do I get there?

The two main railway stations in Berlin are the Berlin Hauptbahnhof and the Ostbahnhof . Using the highly efficient U and S Bahn, you can get to Potsdamer Platz is only 8 mins from the Berlin Hauptbahnhof or 14 mins from the Ostbahnhof .

And it’s really simple with your QMapp Berlin. All you  have to do is key in the station you are travelling from and to ( Potsdamer Platz for the Festival) & leave all the hard work of journey planning to QMapp.

Available in  5  different languages : German, French,Italian, Spanish and English, we truly  have  got something for everyone!

Munich-The Bavarian capital is full of Surprises

Munich Beerfest, Munich subway / No Comments

AutoBavaria (BMW) and currently the world famous Munich Beerfest , attracting almost 6 million visitors to it over a period of just 2 weeks , Munich is famous for all that.

My most recent visit to the Bavarian capital confirms all that and more. Yes, every other car on the streets is a BMW or a Mercedes or VW. I have never seen so many Mercs being used as taxis in my life. And indeed, there are gorgeous beer gardens dotted around everywhere, serving a wide variety of delicious “Golden Liquid”.

What I have also discovered is that Munich is a city full of Surprises. From the very friendly locals to the architechtural splendours that can all be easily reached by the efficient subway and suburban rail.Plus, you are never too far from nature. Half an hour away by train and you are in the blissful countryside with lush forests and deep blue lakes !

Here are just a selection of my favourites :

Journey planning tool, transport maps / No Comments

In the many years that we have been designing city transport maps, one thing we have encountered  as a repeat concern for many users of maps (no matter how well designed they are) when in an unfamiliar city is…

“Will I get it right or will I get lost?”

Here at QMapps, we totally understand where that concern comes from and with our unique and highly developed automatic journey planning tool, that will be a thing of the past. Simply tap on the stops that you desire to travel to and leave the rest to QMapps! Easy!

It won’t be long now before you can start enjoying our first App… Keep looking at the App Store..
